Tight-binding description of polarization waves in periodic arrays of metal dots

We consider the plasmon structure of an periodic arrays of metal dots separated by a dielectric medium. the electromagnetic modes are described by polarization waves, expressed in a basis of localized plasmon modes associated with the isolated metal dot. These tight-binding modes are used to give an interpretation of the photonic bands obtained in more standard ways, i.e., plan wave expansions.
